Residents Of NIBM Road Take To The Streets, Seeking Action From Pune Municipal Corporation
Kondhwa, 11th June 2023: A protest held this morning witnessed the participation of over 150 residents who gathered near Clover Palisades society on NIBM Undri Road in Kondhwa, expressing their dissatisfaction with the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). The residents rallied to bring attention to the PMC’s failure in providing essential amenities in the area, specifically emphasizing the need for safe roads and access to drinking water.
The demonstrators aimed to shed light on the neglect shown by the civic body towards the basic issues affecting the residents. Various individuals expressed their frustrations and concerns during the protest. One resident, residing in California society, highlighted the urgency for the PMC to take responsibility for the city’s well-being and fulfill its duties by ensuring the provision of safe and accessible roads.
Another resident from Winspire society emphasized the significance of well-maintained and obstacle-free roads, urging the PMC to devise a comprehensive plan to address the current difficulties faced by commuters.
A resident living on NIBM Undri Road expressed dismay over the deteriorating condition of the road and the lack of basic amenities in the area. Representing the NIBM Undri Road Residents Forum, Parveen Tambe clarified that the protest aimed to draw attention to the numerous challenges experienced by the residents, including poor road conditions, inadequate drinking water supply, and a lack of safety measures.
The absence of essential infrastructure in the Undri area was questioned by a concerned resident, who expressed the long-standing frustration of the community regarding the unfulfilled need for drinking water supply, proper roads, and public spaces such as gardens.
Residents from Palace Orchard highlighted the neglect faced by the area over the past two decades despite paying substantial taxes. Their struggle for basic amenities serves as a reminder of the persistent shortcomings of the PMC.
Former corporator Nanda Lonkar, who was present at the protest, assured the residents that necessary actions would be taken to address their concerns. Specifically, plans were announced to install reflectors and a high mast street lamp near Clover Palisades to enhance visibility and alert residents about the road divider.
The protest showcased the collective voice of the residents who are demanding prompt action from the PMC to resolve the longstanding issues and improve the quality of life in their community.
