New Delhi, 14th May 2023: Today (May 14), Rajnath Singh, the minister of defence, approved the fourth Positive Indigenisation List (PIL) comprising strategically significant Line Replacement Units (LRUs), Subsystems, Spares, and Components.

High-end components and spare parts with an import substitution value of Rs 715 crore are included in this approval.

These steps have been taken, according to the Ministry of Defence, to promote “Aatmanirbharta” in the defense industry and reduce imports by Defence Public Industry Undertakings (DPSUs). The official stated that they will only be purchased from Indian manufacturers.

The ministry stated that the previous three PILs involving LRUs or Sub-systems, Assemblies, Sub-assemblies, Spares, and Components that were issued in December 2021, March 2022, and August 2022 consecutively, are being continued by this fourth list. These lists include 1,238 goods that will be locally produced within the specified time frames and 2,500 items that have previously undergone indigenous production. So far, 310 out of 1,238 objects are indigenous.
