Pune: 2 Girls Drowned, 5 Rescued From Khadakwasla Dam Backwaters

Khadakwasla, 15th May 2023: An incident of seven women drowning in Gorhe Village, Donje, Khadakwasla has come to light. According to the information received, nine girls went to the Khadakwasla, out of them seven went into the water.

Five girls out of seven were rescued by the locals who came to perform the rights of the funeral while the dead bodies of two were taken out of the water by the jawans of the fire brigade of PMRDA.

As soon as the information about the incident was received, Haveli police and fire brigade personnel reached the spot.

The two dead bodies were sent for an autopsy and they have been identified as Khushi Sanjay Khurde and Sheetal Bhagwan Titore.

According to the information, the girls went to bathe and wash their clothes in the water at around 9.15 am. There, they saw a child going deep in water hence, they went to save the child. But soon, the girls started drowning too.

Reportedly, six girls Sheetal Ashok Lahane (16), Payal Sanjay Lahane (12), Rashi Suresh Mandve (7), Pallavi Sanjay Lahane (10), Payal Santosh Savele (16) and Meena Lahane (35) are admitted to Khanapur while Kumudini Khurde (10) has been admitted to Jeevan Uday Hospital, Khadakwasla, and is on oxygen support.
