Pune, 6th February 2023: Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav on Sunday approved the Pune-Nashik Semi High-Speed Rail project approved by the Indian Railway Board. The project was stalled for the final approval of the central government. Now that the approval has been received, the Pune-Nashik rail journey will soon become fast and comfortable.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis thanked Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav for giving approval to the Pune-Nashik High-Speed Rail project. It is also believed that this project will give a big boost to the development of both cities.

During his 15-year tenure as MP, former MP Shivajirao Adhalrao Patil had tried to get approval for this railway line. The Maharashtra Railway Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (MRIDCL) informed that the Ministry of Railways has now decided to implement this high-speed rail project, and out of the 1,450 hectares required for this project, more than 30 hectares of private land has been acquired. Also, the process of government and forest land acquisition is currently underway.

There is no direct train route between Pune and Nashik, so one has to come to Mumbai and catch a train to reach Pune or Nashik. So the journey takes six hours or more. The Ministry of Railways has decided to implement the High-Speed Rail concept to reduce travel time.

As this railway line connects the three districts of Pune – Ahmednagar – Nashik, the development of these three districts will be boosted. Also, this will create a big facility for the farmers to transport the farm produce.
