Chakan Traffic Crisis: Class 7 Student Writes To PM Modi, Gadkari, CM Fadnavis
Chakan, 17th August 2026: The worsening traffic situation in Chakan has now prompted an unusual appeal from a Class 7 student, who has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Industries Minister Uday Samant, highlighting the problems faced by schoolchildren travelling through the area.
Mayuresh Khole, a Class 7 student who travels between Chakan and Pimpri-Chinchwad for his JEE preparation, reportedly spent nearly five hours stuck in traffic on one occasion. He reached home at around 12:30 am, leaving his family worried about his safety.
In his letter, Mayuresh raised questions about what happens to children who remain stuck in traffic for hours. He pointed to basic concerns such as where students can eat or use the washroom, how they are expected to travel safely after dark and how they can manage around heavy vehicles during prolonged traffic jams.
Addressing the leaders as “Prime Minister Grandfather”, “Gadkari Grandfather” and “Chief Minister Uncle”, the young student appealed to them to take urgent steps to address Chakan’s traffic problems and make daily travel safer for schoolchildren.
His father, Sushant Khole, said the long traffic jams have become a major source of anxiety for the family, particularly when Mayuresh is delayed for several hours while returning home.
The student’s letter has once again highlighted the impact of Chakan’s persistent traffic congestion on residents, particularly schoolchildren and families who depend on the roads for their daily commute.
