Check-in Baggage Limit Reduced On Domestic Flights, Know The New Advisory

Pune, September 25, 2020: The Civil Aviation Ministry has taken a big decision regarding domestic air services. Passengers can carry how much baggage (luggage) with them during a domestic flight, now its limit will be decided as per the airline policy. The ministry has scrapped the check-in baggage limit. This has been revealed in an official statement.

Domestic flights were banned for two months due to Coronavirus pandemic in the country. It was resumed on May 25 and the government issued a standard operating procedure (SOP) to prevent the spread of COVID19. With this, the Ministry had also issued instructions regarding the luggage. After the introduction of domestic air service, the ministry had directed that passengers can carry check-in baggage and a handbag with them.

Now in a new order, the ministry has said that the limit of baggage will now be determined according to the airline policy. This order had been issued by the Ministry on September 23. It has been said that this order will be implemented from 25 September. The Ministry has said the issue of check-in baggage has been reviewed after consultation and feedback from all the parties. Currently, airlines are not allowed to operate more than 60 percent of their domestic flights before Corona pandemic.
