Children At Higher Risk As Pune Reports 22 Cases Of H3N2 Influenza

Pune, 14th March 2023: According to a recent report, 22 cases of H3N2 influenza have been identified in Pune, Maharashtra. Children are considered more vulnerable to this virus.

The virus has been identified in several areas of the city, and health officials have advised parents to take necessary precautions to protect their children from getting infected. The symptoms of H3N2 influenza include fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, and fatigue.

Health officials have also stated that the virus is not new and has been in circulation for several years. However, it can cause severe illness, particularly in children and elderly people with underlying health conditions.

To prevent the spread of H3N2 influenza, health officials have recommended that people take precautions such as washing hands frequently, covering their nose and mouth while coughing or sneezing, and avoiding close contact with people who are sick.

In addition, they have advised individuals to seek medical attention if they experience symptoms such as high fever, difficulty breathing, chest pain, confusion, severe vomiting, and/or diarrhea. People with underlying health conditions such as asthma, heart disease, or diabetes should also seek medical attention if they experience flu-like symptoms.
