Church of God Youth Volunteers in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad Contribute to Local Community

Pune, 2nd February 2024: ASEZ WAO, an office worker youth volunteer group affiliated with the Church of God, demonstrated their commitment to community service by participating in the ‘7734th Global Environmental Cleanup Movement’ on the 28th. This initiative, part of the ‘Green Earth’ project, aimed to improve local streets’ cleanliness, reflecting the group’s dedication to environmental sustainability.

ASEZ WAO, consisting of youth volunteers from the World Mission Society Church of God, visited the Pimpri Chinchwad Fire Station on the 31st to express gratitude and offer support to the firefighters who play a crucial role in ensuring the safety of residents. The visit included delivering handwritten letters expressing appreciation, a box of snacks, and a musical performance of the song ‘You Raise Me Up.’ Subsequently, the volunteers engaged in first aid training conducted by the firefighters.

An ASEZ WAO official stated, “This event was a gesture of support for the firefighters, who are the ‘heroes’ of citizens, ensuring their health and happiness. We believe this reflects the sentiments of not only ASEZ WAO but all Pune citizens.”

Rosanne Lazarus, a member of ASEZ WAO, conveyed her appreciation, saying, “I am truly grateful to the firefighters for their hard work and dedication. I hope this event brings them comfort and renewed strength.”

PCMC Additional Commissioner, Pradeep Jambhale Patil, extended gratitude to the volunteers, stating, “Thank you so much for helping us with what we need to do. I fully support your volunteer activities.”

PCMC Fire Brigade officer Anil Bapurao Dimble expressed similar sentiments, thanking the volunteers for organizing such a touching event.

On the 28th, around 200 ASEZ WAO members, along with their families and colleagues, undertook ‘Green Earth’ activities at BT Kawade Road Bridge, Ghorpadi, Bhagwan, Pune. The cleanup efforts spanned a 2km section, collecting various household waste items. The collected trash, weighing 1.5 tons, was disposed of, transforming the area into a cleaner and more comfortable space.

ASEZ WAO has been actively involved in environmental cleanup activities across Pune, targeting areas frequently visited by citizens. Additionally, during the COVID-19 pandemic, the group extended support to hospitals, police stations, and government offices by delivering handwritten letters and snacks to medical staff and public officials on the front lines. They also provided groceries to orphanages, showcasing their commitment to community welfare.

The organization’s volunteer activities have received recognition and awards from various government bodies and officials, highlighting the impact of their initiatives. ASEZ WAO, which stands for ‘Save the Earth from A to Z, We Are One Family,’ operates globally, conducting ‘Green Earth’ activities in multiple countries. Their initiatives include climate change response projects, such as ‘No More GPGP’ and ‘Mother’s Forest,’ contributing to preserving the global environment.
