CID Steps In After Woman Dies Following Pune Police Raid at Viman Nagar Area Spa

Viman Nagar, 28th February 2026: A woman who allegedly jumped from a gallery during a police raid at a spa centre in the Airport area died while undergoing treatment at Sassoon General Hospital. Following her death, a team from the Crime Investigation Department (CID) visited the premises to collect information related to the incident.

The raid was conducted on Monday, February 23, by the Vimantal Police after receiving information that prostitution was being carried out under the guise of a spa operating in the building.

Meanwhile, the deceased woman’s husband has submitted a complaint to the Police Commissioner, demanding a detailed inquiry into the incident. In his complaint, he has sought seizure of CCTV footage from the premises for forensic examination and recording of statements of all police officers, personnel, and other individuals present at the spot during the raid.

Police said that during the raid, the woman and the spa manager, identified as Hussein Sheikh, allegedly jumped from the gallery in an attempt to escape. Sheikh sustained injuries in the fall. The incident occurred around 3.30 pm at ‘The Roots Spa’, located on the first floor of the City Space building on Nagar Road.

Acting on a tip-off, police first sent a decoy customer to verify information about the alleged illegal activities. After confirmation, Senior Police Inspector Govind Jadhav, along with women police personnel and panch witnesses, reached the spa to carry out the raid.

When police knocked on the door, it was not opened. The team then broke open the glass door and entered the spa, where they found four women and four men inside. One of the cabins was locked from within. After repeated knocks went unanswered, police broke open that door as well.

According to police, a woman inside the cabin informed them that two persons were attempting to escape through the gallery. Police rushed to the spot and found that a man and a woman had fallen from the building.
Both were initially taken to a private hospital in a government vehicle and later shifted to Sassoon General Hospital. The woman succumbed to severe head injuries during treatment, police said.
