CJP Alleges Delhi Train Cancellations and Detentions Ahead of Protest Against Election Commission
Pune/New Delhi, 9th October 2026: The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) has alleged that its activists travelling from Maharashtra to Delhi for a protest against the functioning of the Election Commission were removed from trains and taken to unknown locations.
In a press statement issued on Friday, the party also claimed that several trains heading towards Hazrat Nizamuddin and New Delhi railway stations had been cancelled and that several metro stations near Jantar Mantar had been closed. The claims could not be independently verified at the time of publication.
The party has scheduled a protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi on Saturday, October 10, against the functioning of the Election Commission.
According to CJP Maharashtra, activists from across the country, particularly Maharashtra, were travelling to Delhi to participate in the demonstration.
CJP questions alleged action against activists
CJP Maharashtra state spokespersons Trisha Pudke and Sushil Kumar criticised the alleged action in a video message, questioning why activists were being prevented from reaching the protest venue.
“ If we cannot ask questions in a democracy, where are we supposed to ask them? Our activists travelling from Maharashtra to Delhi have allegedly been removed from trains and taken to unknown locations. We are also being told that trains heading towards Hazrat Nizamuddin and New Delhi have been cancelled and nearby metro stations have been closed. What is happening?” the spokespersons said.
They maintained that questioning those in power was a democratic right and said the party would seek answers through constitutional means.
The spokespersons also asserted that the protest scheduled for Saturday would go ahead as planned.
Party appeals to citizens to join protest
CJP Maharashtra said the demonstration would be peaceful and conducted within the constitutional framework. Through its video message, the party appealed to citizens in Maharashtra to participate in the protest and uphold the right to question public authorities.
The party described the alleged detention of its activists and the reported transport disruptions as attempts to prevent people from exercising their right to peaceful protest.
