Attends mass marriage ceremony at Baroda Ahir in Khandwa

Bhopal : Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that a research centre and library will be established in Tantya Bhil Memorial. Shri Chouhan paid tributes to martyr of first independence movement Shaheed Jananayak Tantya Bhil at his memorial at village Baroda Ahir in Pandhana development block of Khandwa district today. He felicitated Smt. Soni, a descendent of Tantya Bhil with shawl and coconut and assured every possible assistance to her family. After inspection, the Chief Minister directed to make the memorial more grand and useful. Shri Shiv Gupta recited poetic version of Tantya Bhil’s life in Nimari dialect.

Rs. one crore for development of Pandhana Nagar Panchayat areas

The Chief Minister announced Rs. one crore for development of Pandhana Nagar Panchayat areas. He said that Khandwa will be made state’s number one district. Chhagaonmakhan lift irrigation project costing Rs. 784 crore in the district has been sanctioned in next financial year’s budget. In this project, water from Narmada river will be brought through pipeline, due to which more area will be irrigated with less water, he added.

Shri Chouhan was addressing a mass marriage ceremony at village Baroda Ahir. The Chief Minister said that adequate water is available after commissioning of Sihada and Punasa lift irrigation projects. He assured to examine prospects of Bhagwant Sagar/Sukta Lake’s development and Rajghat medium irrigation scheme.

The Chief Minister distributed benefits of about 4.50 crore to beneficiaries of various schemes at Antyodaya Mela. Shri Chouhan blessed newly-wed couples at mass marriage ceremony and wished them happy married life. He sought mobile numbers of 92 newly-wed girls from district administration to greet them personally.

MP Shri Nand Kumar Singh Chouhan, Food Minister Kunwar Vijay Shah, MLAs Smt. Yogita Borkar, Shri Devendra Sharma, Shri Lokendra Singh Tomar, Zila Panchayat President Smt. Haseena Bhate and other public representatives were also present on the occasion.
