Due to the project, the distance of 19 km from Khopoli exit to Sinhgad institute will reduce by 6 km and become 13.3 km. So this will save 20-25 minutes travel time. The project was approved by the Forest Department on 4th June 2019, and by the State Environment Committee on 24th August 2018.

Need for the project

Mumbai-Pune expressway (6 lanes) and National highway no. 4 (4 lanes) come together near Adoshi tunnel and separate at Khandala exit. It is a Ghat area and has many ups and downs on the road. During monsoon one lane near the hills coming from Mumbai is closed due to the landslides which cause a traffic jam.
