Pune, 31st January 2024: Brace yourselves, Pune, as chilly weather is poised to make a comeback in the city. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts a significant drop of approximately 3-4 degrees in minimum temperatures over the next three days. Areas such as NDA may experience a chilling 8°C, while Shivajinagar could record temperatures as low as 10°C in the upcoming days.

Anupam Kashyapi, the head of the weather forecasting division at IMD Pune, explained the weather dynamics, stating, ” Strong and chilly northwesterly surface winds are expected to prevail over the region. As a result, minimum temperatures (Tmin) in north-central Maharashtra, including Pune, are likely to decrease from Wednesday morning until the morning of Feb 3. There is also a forecasted decline in maximum temperatures during this period.”

Kashyapi highlighted, “There is a likelihood of northerly winds penetrating parts of the state, particularly north-central Konkan and north-central Madhya Maharashtra, including Pune city and district. However, as the western disturbance passes through, some cloud cover is expected intermittently during the daytime. Minimum temperatures are projected to decrease by around 3° over the next few days. Alongside partly cloudy conditions on certain days, maximum temperatures may also drop by around 2°, translating into cooler weather.”
