Khed, 10th August 2023: What began as a simple exchange of glances in college took a sinister turn, resulting in a tragic loss of life. Startling revelations have emerged surrounding the murder of a young software engineer, shedding light on the horrifying events that led to his demise – he was brutally attacked with stones and fatally stabbed.

The local crime branch (LCB) of Pune Rural Police, in collaboration with the Khed police, has effectively unraveled the case, leading to the apprehension of the accused.

The arrested individual has been identified as Mayur Sandeep Dalvi (residing in Sarafbazar, Kopargaon, District Ahmednagar). The victim of this heinous crime is Saurabh Nandalal Patil (23 years old, residing at Surabh Sai Pandharinagar, Pimpalwadi Road, Shirdi, District Ahmednagar).

The lifeless body of the young engineer was discovered in Khed Ghat within the vicinity of Sandbhorwadi village on August 6. An extensive investigation revealed the identity of the deceased, Saurabh Patil, hailing from Shirdi in the Ahmednagar district. His untimely disappearance on July 28 had raised concerns.

Employed at an IT company in Hinjawadi, Saurabh’s tragic fate prompted the intervention of top-ranking police officials including Superintendent of Police Ankit Goyal, Additional Superintendent of Police Mitesh Ghatte, and Sub Divisional Police Officer Sudarshan Patil, who entrusted Police Inspector Avinash Shilimkar and Khed Police Inspector Rajkumar Kendra with the task of solving the intricate puzzle. The case prompted the formation of two specialized investigative teams. The meticulous execution of the crime had left no trace, rendering the police clueless.

As the investigation proceeded, it was uncovered that Saurabh Patil had engaged in a prior altercation with Mayur Dalvi a few months earlier. Acting on this revelation, the Ahmednagar police nabbed Mayur and handed him over to the Pune LCB.

During the course of the investigation, it was revealed that Saurabh Patil and Mayur Dalvi were once fellow students at Sanjivani College in Kopargaon, and their disagreements had culminated in a fight. The recent altercation was a continuation of their previous conflicts, resulting in a surge of anger that drove Mayur to fatally stab Saurabh. Mayur admitted to also inflicting fatal head injuries on Saurabh using stones, before abandoning the lifeless body in a desolate location.

Sub Divisional Police Officer Sudarshan Patil elaborated, “The initial dispute originated during their college days when a mere glance led to an altercation. This simmering animosity resurfaced months later, culminating in the accused’s violent attack on the engineer. Our investigation is ongoing to ascertain if any other individuals were involved in this tragic incident.”

Superintendent of Police Ankit Goyal, Additional Superintendent Mitesh Ghatte, Sub Divisional Officer Sudarshan Patil, Police Inspector Avinash Shilimkar, Police Inspector Rajkumar Kendra, API Abhijeet Sawant, and police personnel Raju Momin, Atul Dere, Prakash Waghmare, Deepak Sable, Vikram Tapkir, Sandeep Vare, Akshay Navale, Nilesh Supekar, Shankar Bhawari, Santosh More, Pravin Gengje, Swapnil Lohar, Sagar Shingade, Yogesh Bhandare, and Sunil Bande were instrumental in piecing together this intricate case.
