Coronavirus – CM Uddhav Thackeray will address the state at 1pm Today

Pune ,19 April 2020- Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray will address the state today by 1 pm .

Across Maharashtra, there were 328 new COVID-19 cases yesterday taking the state tally to 3648. Highest 184 of the new cases recorded in Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai area followed by Pune at 78 cases, according to the State Health Department.

“The current count of COVID19 patients in the state of Maharashtra is 3648. Yesterday newly 328 patients have been identified as positive for Covid19. From these, 365 Covid19 patients have been cured and discharged from the respective hospitals”, informed Health Minister Rajesh Tope.

Deaths: There were 11 COVID-related deaths in the state Yesterday. Out of these, 5 deaths were recorded in Mumbai, 4 in Pune, 1 death in Aurangabad Municipal Corporation and 1 in Thane Municipal Corporation. Out of the 11 deaths today, 6 were men and 5 women. 5 of them aged over 60 years and 6 were from the age group 40 to 60 years. 9 out of these 11 patients (82%) had high-risk co-morbidities such as diabetes, hypertension, asthma and heart disease. Death toll in COVID-19 patients has now gone up to 211 in the state. (*A death reported on 11th April has found to be COVID negative as informed by the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai. Therefore, this has been eliminated from the total death count.)

Lab testing details: Out of 67,468 laboratory samples, 63,476 were negative and 3648 have been tested positive for coronavirus until today.

Containment Plan: As per the guidance from the Government of India, cluster containment action plan is being implemented in places where clusters of patients have been found in the state. There are 344 active containment zones in the state currently. Total 5994 surveillance squads worked today across the state and surveillance of over 23 lakh population was done.

Other important notes: 365 patients have been discharged till date after full recovery. Currently, 82,299 people are in home quarantine and 6999 people are in institutional quarantine.
