Coronavirus in Pune: 104 new patients today in PMC area, total COVID19 cases reach 980 now

Pune, April 24, 2020: As per the latest information available with the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), there has been an increase of 104 new patients today, which is the same as yesterday. Now the total number of Coronavirus positive patients has reached 980. Across Pune district which includes Pune rural, PMC and PCMC areas, the number of COVID cases has reached about 1100.

 

As per PMC Coronavirus update, today four patients died taking the total tally of deaths to 64. On the other hand, 16 patients were discharged after getting cured of the deadly virus. Till now 146 patients have been cured and discharged. However, the cause of concern is the condition of 41 patients who are still critical. There are 770 active patients admitted in 23 hospitals.

 

PMC officials said that the number of patients has also increased in the suburbs; while earlier it was concentrated in the central part of Pune city. Throat fluid samples from about 6,181 people in different parts of the city have been examined. Of these, 5,264 reports have been negative. Although the number of new patients is increasing, the number of those who have been cured of the coronavirus has also increased to 146. People are currently being investigated by the door to door visit in the “red zone” areas.

 

In Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) area, 12 new patients were detected today in Koyna Nagar and Rupeenagar, taking the total number of COVID19 cases to 81 in the township. Out of 81, four (including one from Pune) have died while 21 have been cured and discharged from different hospitals. The test results of 80 others are awaited.

 

According to Maharashtra Health department, a total of 394 new COVID19 cases and 18 deaths have been reported in Maharashtra today, taking the total number of cases to 6817 & death toll to 310 in the state. A total of 957 patients have been discharged to date. In Mumbai, there were 357 new COVID19 cases and 11 deaths today, taking the total number of cases to 4589 and deaths to 179. The number of active patients stands at 3815 in the state capital.

According to the Union Health Ministry, across India, there were 1752 new Coronavirus positive cases and 37 deaths reported in the last 24 hours. The total number of cases has increased to 23,452, including 17915 active cases, 4813 cured, 724 deaths and 1 migration.
