‘Couldn’t Breathe’: SpiceJet Passengers Allege Extreme Heat Inside Delhi-Pune Flight, Raise ‘SpiceJet Murdabad’ Slogans
Pune/ New Delhi, 12th August 2026: Passengers travelling from Delhi to Pune on a SpiceJet flight allegedly faced severe discomfort after the cabin temperature rose sharply before take-off, with several passengers reportedly experiencing breathing difficulties.
According to passenger Leshpal Javalge, the flight had passengers including elderly people and children. He alleged that after passengers boarded the aircraft, the cabin temperature suddenly increased and became unbearable.
Passengers were reportedly drenched in sweat and some complained of difficulty breathing. Despite the situation, the aircraft was taken to the runway, according to Javalge.
The passengers then objected to the flight taking off and raised an alarm, he said. Javalge further alleged that the captain and other crew members attempted to silence the passengers and threatened them when they protested.
The aircraft was subsequently found to have a technical problem, according to the passenger’s account. The passengers were then taken off the aircraft.
Javalge shared a video of the incident on social media, describing the experience as a serious lapse in passenger safety. He alleged that passengers were put at risk and called for the Ministry of Civil Aviation to take serious action against the airline.
Following the incident, passengers staged a protest at the airport, demanding action over the alleged lapse.
SpiceJet’s response to the allegations was awaited at the time of publication.
