COVID cases cross 90 thousand across India; initial 10 thousand cases came in 74 days, but last 10 thousand only in 3 days

New Delhi, May 17, 2020: The number of corona infections in the country has reached 90 thousand 813. Today, 91 patients have been found in Odisha, 70 in Rajasthan and 3 in Assam. The first case of Coronavirus infection in the country was detected on 31 January. 74 days later on April 13, the total number of patients reached 10 thousand 454. However, the last 10,000 infected persons have increased in just 3 days. On May 13, there were 78 thousand 56 patients. Three days later on May 16, this figure crossed 90 thousand.

 

On Saturday, the maximum number of 4792 patients increased in one day, while 3979 were cured. In Maharashtra, the number of infected has crossed 30 thousand, while Gujarat and Tamil Nadu have crossed 10,000. According to the Union Health Ministry, there are 90 thousand 927 infected in the country. 53 thousand 946 are being treated. 34 thousand 108 have been cured and 2872 have died.

 

700 ‘super spreader’ Corona positives have been found in Gujarat. The administration campaigned for this after receiving alerts from the Arogya Setu app. People associated with businesses like fruits, vegetables, milk are called super spreaders. They come in contact with many people. They are more at risk of spreading the infection.

 

The lockdown in Punjab has been extended till May 31, but the curfew will be lifted from May 18. Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has suggested the central government to implement nationwide lockdown. The lockdown has also increased in Mizoram.
