Pune, 31st March 2023: The state health department in Maharashtra has issued an advisory urging people to take basic hygiene measures, wear face masks, avoid crowded places, and get vaccinated amid the surge in Covid-19 cases.

The advisory was released after a review conference on Wednesday, presided over by the secretary of Maharashtra’s public health department, and included the director of health services, deputy directors, and members of the Covid-19 task group.

Hospitals statewide have been instructed to be prepared for any additional influx, with mock exercises planned and instructions provided on managing inventory and supplies. Hospitals and public health authorities have also been requested to test patients showing symptoms of severe acute respiratory infection and influenza-like illness and to conduct frequent deliveries of Covid-19 samples for genome sequencing.

The officials have been instructed to follow contact tracing and house isolation guidelines, and district-level control centres are also being established. A practice exercise is scheduled for April 10 and 11.
