Cricket: Recreation Club, Metro Club earn three points each due to first innings lead

Pune, 2nd February 2026: Recreation Club and Metro Club earned three points each against their respective opponents due to their first innings lead in the ‘Ecole Cup’ Under-16 boys’ Test (two-day – 90 overs) inter-club cricket tournament organized by the Ecole Sports Foundation. Shaurya Konde (164 runs) and Mahesh Chaudhary (172 runs) won the Man of the Match award.

In the match played at the Vision Cricket Ground on Sinhagad Road, the match between Recreation Club and MCVS-SPJ-Pravin Tambe Academy ended in a draw. Recreation Club earned three points by securing a 94-run lead in the first innings. Recreation Club scored 333 runs in 61 overs in their first innings. Shaurya Konde played an innings of 164 runs off 165 balls with 22 fours and 2 sixes. He was well supported by Angad Thakur (46 runs) and Alankar Parve (61 runs). MCVS-SPJ-Pravin Tambe Academy’s first innings ended at 239 runs in 66.4 overs. B. Krishna scored 71 runs. Shravan Wavhal and Venkatesh Tadwalkar took three wickets each, while Angad Thakur took two wickets to wrap up MCVS-SPJ-Pravin Tambe Academy’s innings. In their second innings, Recreation Club declared their innings at 107 runs thanks to the batting of Shaurya Konde (60 not out) and Angad Thakur (43 not out). MCVS-SPJ-Pravin Tambe Academy could only manage 108 runs in 30 overs in the second innings, and the match ended in a draw.

In the second match, which also ended in a draw, Metro Club earned three points against Zoroastrian Club based on their first-innings lead. Metro Club scored 393 runs in 69.3 overs in their first innings. Avdeth Krishna played a brilliant innings of 122 runs off 111 balls, including 19 fours and 2 sixes. Adhiraj P. (54 runs), Yuvraj Patil (45 runs), and Pragyanan Gaikwad (44 runs) provided good support with the bat. Zoroastrian Club’s first innings ended at 123 runs, giving Metro Club a massive lead of 270 runs. Samarth Dhake took three wickets and Ojas Altekar took two wickets for Metro. In the second innings, Zoroastrian Club scored 333 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 70 overs. Mahesh Chaudhary played a magnificent innings of 172 runs off 169 balls, including 33 fours. This performance earned Mahesh the Man of the Match award.

Earlier, the tournament was inaugurated by the Ecole Sports Foundation’s directors Mr. Shubhendra Bhandarkar and Mr. Shashank Joshi.
