Ola partners with Pune Traffic Police to promote ridesharing this World Environment Day

Pune, June 05, 2017: Ola, India’s most popular mobile app for transportation, partners with Pune Traffic Police to create awareness around reducing traffic and pollution by opting for shared rides. As part of the awareness drive, senior traffic police officials handed out tree saplings to thousands of commuters across key traffic junctions in the city, reminding them to share their rides, and help in decongesting roads and reduce overall pollution level.

With the hundreds of vehicles being registered on an everyday basis in Pune city, the road infrastructure is battling over growing vehicular adoption along with rising pollution and congestion. Smart and shared mobility solutions can go a long way at decongesting traffic and curbing pollution levels.

This World Environment Day, Ola has launched a unique #FarakPadtaHai campaign with the aim to decongest traffic and urge the nation to share their rides. As a part of the initiative Ola, with support from the city traffic police communicates the importance of sustainable mobility solutions and encourages ridesharing by engaging with commuters at key traffic junctions in the city. Apart from Pune, similar activities are being conducted with the traffic police in Delhi, Noida, Gurgaon, Bangalore, and Mumbai.

Speaking on the occasion Mr. Ashok Morale, DCP Traffic, Pune mentioned, “Every single day, over thousands of vehicles are added on the roads in the city of Pune, resulting in ever-growing traffic and air pollution. While, we have been doing our bit to promote usage of public transport to curb this, it is great that private transportation companies like Ola are also coming forward and promoting the use of ridesharing. Shared transport solutions can help in effectively reducing congestion on the roads and pollution overall.”

Ola’s unique campaign #FarakPadtaHai aims to encourage consumers to use Ola Share and do their part by fighting congestion and traffic across key cities in the country. Ace cricketer, VirenderSehwag also supportedthecampaign by stirring a conversation on social media and encouraging people to be more environmentally conscious.
