CSIR-NCL contributes to the National Intellectual Property Awareness Mission 2.0

Pune, 17th January 2025: In 2024, the Intellectual Property Group of CSIR-National Chemical Laboratory, in collaboration with the Indian Patent Office, successfully organized 113 events across India under the National Intellectual Property Awareness Mission 2.0 (NIPAM), an initiative by the Government of India.
This program aimed to enhance awareness and understanding of Intellectual Property (IP) and its pivotal role in fostering innovation and progress while commemorating the Platinum Jubilee of CSIR-NCL. The events spanned all 26 states of the country, with a focus on Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, including regions like Leh-Ladakh, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, and Lakshadweep, training over 10,000 participants. Beneficiaries of this initiative included Institutions of National Importance such as 12 IITs, 5 NITs, and 3 IISERs, along with 15 schools across the country.
The journey of the century events culminated in an online valedictory session on Jan 14, 2024, featuring Prof. Unnat P. Pandit, Controller General of Patent & Trademark Office as the Chief Guest and Dr. Raghavender GR, Senior Consultant, DPIIT as the Special Guest. Both guests, along with CSIR-NCL Director Dr. Ashish Lele, emphasized the significance of Intellectual Property in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for a “Viksit Bharat.” They also called for leveraging technological innovations to address societal challenges while stressing on need for IP protection and commercialization.
As part of the valedictory, a follow-up session on ‘Careers in IP’ was conducted in response to participant demand, inspiring individuals from across the country to explore the vast opportunities in this dynamic field. Esteemed IP experts such as Rajneesh Kumar (BITS, Pilani), Shweta Uttam (AIC-SEED IISER Pune), Dr. Shikha Rastogi (CSIR), and Dr. Vinita Jindal (DBT-BIRAC) shared their valuable insights, motivating participants to engage in discussions about expectations, challenges, and the essential skill sets required for a career in IP. The session was moderated by Dr Nitin Tewari, Head-Intellectual Property Group, NCL.
