CSR Not Only Serves The Purpose Of Social Service But Also Imparts Happiness : Rakesh Baveja

Pune: “CSR is a opportunity which gives us opportunity to serve the society as well as to pursue happiness. If we see the list of expenditure by states through the CSR, with around 2500Cr per annum Maharashtra is on the top among all the states in India. In corporate sector, speed is the key behind the success of any project. Because of the ‘CSR’, it is now possible to eliminate the loopholes in the governmental system.” said Rakesh Baveja, Vice President (Operations & CSR) of Fiat India Ltd. He was addressing representatives of NGOs and Companies in the ‘CSR Conclave 2020’ at Karve Institute Of Social Services, Pune.

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) since 2013 under corporate law become new tool for giving back support to community towards nation building by Industry and Businesses. To bring together Lion’s Club, various social institutions, corporate companies and industrial institutions on the one platform, ‘CSR Conclave 2020’ was organised by Lions Club International and Karve Institute Of Social Services recently at Karve Institute Of Social Services, Pune. The objective was to bring all the stake holders together, to inform them about CSR process to save time.

The conclave was inaugurated by Omprakash Pethe, dist. Governor of Lions Club International. Fiat India Ltd.’s Vice President (Operations & CSR) Rakesh Baveja was the chief guest. Dr. Deepak Walokar, Director of Karve Institute of Social Service, Pune, CA Abhay Shastri, Vice Dist. Governor of Lions Club were present for this conclave.

Dr. Mahesh Thakur, Director (CSR Cell), Karve Institute Of Social Services, in his presentation introduced CSR, showcased the statistical data of the work that has been done in last 5 years under CSR and gave information about new opportunities generated by CSR. CSR has given opportunity of image building to companies. He stated the need of addressing root cause of any issue, the need of professionally trained social servants. Chayan Pardhi enlightened the attendees on the subject of ‘Capacity Building Of NGOs’. Whereas Radhika Apte of Persistent Systems gave information about NGO selection criteria and preparing CSR proposal, expectations. Post that, Amit Lele of Cummins India, Madhuri Sanas of Sudarshan Chemicals, Pradeep Patil of Fiat India Pvt. Ltd., Vendati Patil of Oerlikon Blazers gave their presentations based on their CSR activity and work.

In concluding session of this conclave CSR Awards were given to those companies which did an excellent work with the help of CSR. The awardees of these awards are: Pradeep Patil of Fiat India Pvt. Ltd, Anil Mandrupkar of Cummins India, Vikas Kaushik of Mazagaon Dock Shipbuilders ltd, Madhuri Sanas Of Sudarshan Chemicals, saurabh Gadgil of P.N. Gadgil Jewellers, Siddharth Yawalkar of Tata Technology, Dipti Kambale of S.L.K. Global Solutions Ltd., Pranav Chougule of IDFC First Bank Ltd, Vendati Patil of Oerlikon Blazers.
