Curbs on high-decibel sound producing systems in State : Collectors instructed to control sound pollution.

Raipur: It is good news to the citizens who do not like too much sound pollution in the vicinity. The State Government authorities are taking measures to curb noise pollution on roads and other public places and put noise producing instruments under check. The concerned officers have taken a serious note of menace of noise on the health of the aam aadmi. The Housing and Environment Department on Monday issued a circular to all the District Collectors regarding the issue.

Housing and Environment Department Principal Secretary Mr. Aman Kumar Singh in a circular to all the District Collectors instructed them to establish a Complaints’ Cell with regard to registering complaints against the sound pollution. A senior officer should be appointed to take complaints and action should be taken as soon as possible. The District Collectors should call upon the police and home guards to monitor and patrol areas of the violators of sound pollution. Awareness drive should be carried on among the masses.

Housing and Environment Department Principal Secretary Mr. Aman Kumar Singh in the circular cautioned against the usage of high-decibel sound producing instruments in densely populated areas which is having a detrimental effects on the general health of the society. The sound is crossing the prescribed decibel limits. The usage of loud speakers and public address systems should be done on the written permission of the competent authority. High-decibel sound producing systems should not be allowed between 10 pm to 6: 00 am anywhere. The instruments should not produce sound more than the prescribed decibel limits. Horns should not be used in the nights in the residential areas and silent places.
