Cyclone ‘Biporjoy’ Strengthens Monsoon Currents As It Approaches Maharashtra and Goa

Pune, 11th June 2023: The Arabian Sea’s cyclone ‘Biporjoy’ has intensified the monsoon currents, resulting in the advancement of the monsoon along the Karnataka coast. Karwar, located on the cusp of Goa, has already witnessed the arrival of the monsoon. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that Goa and Maharashtra will experience the onset of monsoon by Monday (12th).
Earlier, on Thursday (8th), the monsoon made its appearance in Kerala, marking the entrance into the mainland. Subsequently, it progressed through South Tamil Nadu alongside most parts of Kerala. On Saturday (10th), the monsoon continued its westward advancement through the Central Arabian Sea.
According to the Meteorological Department, the monsoon has now enveloped a significant portion of the Northeast states, Kerala in its entirety, the entire Karnataka coast, and various parts of the Bay of Bengal. The demarcation of the monsoon’s track includes Karwar, Merkara, Kodaikanal, and Adirampattinam.
