Dams That Supply Water To Pune And Pimpri Chinchwad Now Have Less Water Compared To Last Year

Pune 12th August 2023: As the rainfall activity has reduced in Pune and most parts of Maharashtra, the water levels in the dam supplying water to the city have gone down compared to last year. According to the official report, the collective water storage in the four dams of Khadakwasla cluster was reported at 90.42% (26.36 TMC) on Saturday compared to 96.03% (27.99 TMC) reported on the same day last year.

According to the officials report, Khadakwasla Dam currently has 81.43% water (1.61 TMC), Panshet Dam has 99.13% water (11.58 TMC), Warasgaon Dam has 90.35 % water (11.58 TMC) and Temghar Dam has 70.47% water (2.61 TMC). The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted ‘light to moderate rain’ for Pune till August 15.

The situation is not different in the other dams of the district as Pawana Dam that supplies water to Pimpri Chinchwad also has less water compared to last year. According to the latest storage reported on Saturday, the dam has 95.26% water compared to 97.17% reported on the same day last year.
