Pune, 29th March 2023: The Public Works Department (PWD) has approved a fund of Rs. 5 crore in principle for the repair work of a bridge that has been in a dangerous condition for two years, and now poses a greater risk to the safety of commuters in Sonapur village on the Pune-Panshet road.

Ajay Bhosale, Executive Engineer of the Public Works Department, said that the final approval will be given soon, and efforts will be made to complete the work before the coming monsoon.

The bridge, which is located in Sonapur village limits, has been dilapidated for the last two years, and a 30-40 meter long section has sunk by 1.5-2 feet, making it a hazardous place for commuters. To prevent any calamity, temporary measures were taken and traffic was stopped from the damaged area.

The repair work has been approved under the Emergency Flood Repair Plan, and it is expected to start within a month and be completed before the onset of monsoon. Bhosale also added that at the time of renewal of the pass, it is mandatory to submit an old pass (original) of 2022-23, a xerox of the Aadhaar card, and two passport-size color photographs, and that the free bus travel passes issued for the year 2022-23 will be accepted for travel till 30th April in PMPML buses.
