DAV Pune collects 100 units of blood
Pune, August 18, 2019 : Dayanand Anglo Vedic College Managing Committee always stands up for a noble cause. Every calamity in the nation has been ably supported by DAV organizations around the country by donating generously. In one such endeavor DAVCMC has announced a Blood Donation Camp across all its institution in India.
Donating funds can be easily done as per the financial capacity of each individual but donating an organ / blood requires a lot of courage. The parents of DAV Pune proved the management right by rising up to the occasion. In this manner the future generations of our country have been sensitized to the needs of our society.
On Saturday, the 17th of August 2019, a blood donation camp was conducted in the school premises with the help of District Hospital Blood Bank, Aundh. from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Under the able guidance of Dayanand Anglo Vedic College Managing Committee this noble act was to commemorate the Centenary year of the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre and to pay tribute to the immeasurable sacrifices made by its martyrs for freedom. In this regard a circular was given to the students mentioning the yeomen sacrifices made by our freedom fighters in attaining independence for our country. The school buzzed with activities like designing posters, presenting street plays. Our homage to those sacrifices of blood shed could be repaid by donating blood to the needy in the society.
Motivated by the message our Parents, well-wishers, teachers and staff turned up in large numbers. An overwhelming response to the appeal made by the school saw collection of around 100 units of blood. The entire activity was conducted under the supervision of 4 doctors,2 nurses and technicians from the District hospital. Students and teachers volunteered wholeheartedly towards this selfless act. All donors were examined thoroughly before they donated 350ml each and moved out proudly with a government certified ‘Donor Card’.
To encourage this noble initiative, reputed people of the society also joined in with their contribution. PSI, Chaturshrungi Mr. Bhaskar Jadhav congratulated the donors and awarded them with certificates. Notable politician Mr. Dattatray Gaikwad was also present for the felicitation.
“Good Actions give strength and inspire good actions in others.”, said the school Principal Mrs. C.V Madhavi, “Compassion, Value of Life and gratification can be best taught through action.”
