Deadly Hit-and-Run in Pune: Police Search for Driver of Speeding Innova Car
Pune, 5th May 2023: A tragic incident occurred on the Pune-Panshet road near the Kirkitwadi-Khadakwasla ghat section, resulting in the death of a person and severe injuries to another. The victim who lost his life was identified as Nitin Bhau Saheb Musamade, aged 32, hailing from Narphe, Taluka Haveli, Pune. Ram Ganpat Rathod, aged 27, from Pratapgad Hostel, Kashibai Navale Hospital, Narphe, Taluka Haveli, sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
According to eyewitnesses, a speeding Innova car hit a concrete block on the side of the road and flew approximately 20-30 feet before landing on the opposite side of the road. The driver quickly managed to steer the vehicle back to the original lane. A group of young security guards in the Chopati area witnessed the accident and promptly informed the police control room. Inspector Sachin Wangade, police sub-inspector DP Shinde, and driver Mahendra Choudhari responded to the incident and arrived at the scene.
The injured victim, Ram Rathod, was immediately admitted to a nearby private hospital for further treatment, while the body of Nitin Musmade was sent to the hospital for post-mortem examination. The Haveli Police Station registered a case, and a formal complaint is currently underway. Police constable Nilesh Rane mentioned that CCTV footage would also be reviewed to identify the vehicle responsible for the accident. The incident has caused deep concern among the local community, and authorities are taking steps to ensure that such incidents do not happen again.
