Deen Dayal SPARSH Yojana: Philately Scholarship Open for Students in Classes VI to IX

Pune, 28th August 2025: The Department of Posts, India, has invited applications for the Deen Dayal SPARSH Yojana, a philately scholarship scheme launched in November 2017 to promote stamp collection and research among schoolchildren. The scheme is open to students from Class VI to IX across recognized schools in India.

Under the Scholarship for Promotion of Aptitude & Research in Stamps as a Hobby (SPARSH), students with a keen interest in philately and a good academic record can apply. Eligible candidates must meet the following criteria:

The applicant should be a student of a recognized school in India (Class VI–IX).
The school must have a Philately Club, and the student should be a member.
If a school does not have a Philately Club, students holding a Philately Deposit Account with the Department of Posts can also apply.
Applicants must have scored at least 60% marks in their most recent final examination. (SC/ST students are eligible for a 5% relaxation).

The last date for submitting applications is September 12, 2025.
Scholarships will be awarded based on participation in philately quizzes and projects conducted by the Department of Posts. Each selected student will receive ₹500 per month (₹6,000 annually).

Highlighting the objective of the scheme, postal officials said, “The Deen Dayal SPARSH Yojana aims to promote philately among children in a sustainable way, reinforcing their academic learning while providing a creative hobby that helps them relax and de-stress.”
