New Delhi, 27th February 2023: Today (February 27), the Delhi High Court dismissed petitions against the Agnipath program for the enlistment of Agniveers.
The court dismissed the petitions challenging the Agnipath scheme’s constitutionality.
The High Court stated, “This court finds no reason to interfere with the scheme.” The court highlighted the fact that the scheme was a policy choice made based on national security. Every petition has been rejected.
The court further dismissed the petitions contesting the 2019 recruitment notification/advertisements, stating that neither promissory estoppel nor a legitimate expectation had been created by the recruitment advertisements and that the petitioners were therefore not entitled to vested rights in the matter.
