Pune: Murder Of Wife On Suspicion Of Character
Purandar, 27th February 2023: The incident of killing a married woman by stabbing with a sharp weapon took place in the forest area of Ambodi, taluka Purandar.
The deceased married woman has been identified as Anita Mahesh Bankar (25). Accused husband Mahesh Pandit Bankar (30) has been arrested by Saswad police.
The deceased’s brother Anil Hanumant Chavan, a resident of Market Yard, Pune has filed a complaint. Anita got married to Mahesh Bankar five years ago. She has two children a daughter (4) and a son (1). Mahesh Bankar works as Diwanji in the Market Yard.
According to police, Mahesh and Anita were married for the last four years. Later he began harassing her. He was drinking alcohol without going to work and used to beat Anita. Mahesh was doubting Anita’s character. It is also mentioned in the complaint that Anita’s mother-in-law, Kamal Bankar was harassing her.
Anita went to work around 9 am on Saturday (25th February). She usually comes home at 11 pm after finishing work. But on Saturday, due to extra work, she told her mother-in-law about this.
At around 6 pm, the owner of the place where she works called Anita’s brother informing him that she has died and that he should go to Saswad Police Station. Anil was also calling Mahesh but his phone was switched off. People were saying that he was the one who took Anita on a motorcycle.
He has now turned off the phone and disappeared. Anil has filed a complaint stating that Mahesh has killed his sister. Police inspector Annasaheb Gholap is investigating the matter.
