Delhi Police Files Closure Report Against Brij Bhushan Singh In Minor Wrestler’s Complaint

New Delhi, 15th June 2023: The Delhi Police has taken significant action against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, the chief of Wrestling Federation of India (WFI), by filing a chargesheet. The charge sheet includes allegations of sexual harassment and stalking. Additionally, the police have recommended the cancellation of a complaint filed by a minor wrestler against Singh.

The statement released by Delhi Police PRO Suman Nalwa clarified the progress in the case, stating, “In the POCSO matter, after the completion of the investigation, we have submitted a police report under section 173, CrPC, requesting for a cancellation of the case based upon the statements of the complainant i.e the father of the victim and the victim herself.”

Another case against Singh, filed by other wrestlers, has resulted in the filing of a chargesheet. The chargesheet includes offences under sections 354 (assault or criminal force on a woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 354A (sexual harassment), and 354D (stalking) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The chargesheet also names Vinod Tomar, a suspended assistant secretary of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI). Tomar faces charges under sections 109 (abetment of any offence), 354, 354A, and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC.
These developments mark a significant step in addressing the allegations and ensuring justice in these cases. The legal proceedings will continue as the investigation progresses.
