Lohegaon, 12th February 2024: In the villages surrounding Pune, concerns regarding illegal constructions and road issues have sparked discussions about the necessity of establishing a municipal corporation or municipality to foster better development. Deputy Chief Minister and District Guardian Minister Ajit Pawar addressed this issue, suggesting the potential merger of Dehu, Alandi, Chakan, and Rajgurunagar into a third unified municipal corporation of Pune district.

During the ceremony for laying the foundation stone for the Lohegaon-Wagholi equal water supply scheme in Lohegaon and the water tank in Dhanori Survey No. 7, Ajit Pawar emphasized the importance of tackling various challenges faced by the people of Lohegaon. He mentioned the potential expansion of the airport in the area contingent upon the relocation of the road under the Ministry of Defence (India), which would facilitate the landing of larger international aircraft. Ajit Pawar assured that efforts would be made to address any issues related to land assessment through consultations with the registration department.

Addressing the water problem, Ajit Pawar acknowledged the significant population growth in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad, resulting in heightened demand for essential amenities such as water, healthcare, and housing. To mitigate water scarcity in areas like Indapur, Haveli, Daund, and Purandar, plans entail constructing a tunnel as an alternative to a canal and exploring the possibility of sourcing water from the Tata Dam for agricultural purposes. Furthermore, sewage treatment plants (STPs) will be established to treat used sewage for agricultural use.

Ajit Pawar emphasized the government’s commitment to improving infrastructure and fostering employment opportunities, highlighting initiatives such as recruitment drives and policies aimed at empowering the youth.
