Deserter From Army Arrested For Posing As Lt Col, Military Intelligence And Bengaluru Police Nab Him In Joint Operation

Pune/Bengaluru, 12th February 2022: In a joint operation by Military Intelligence Southern Command of the Indian Army and Bengaluru City Police, a man was arrested yesterday for impersonating as Lieutenant Colonel.

According to officials, the accused Netaichand Jana (sepoy) was a deserter from Indian Army in 2009 and had forged number of identity documents to lure candidates. He was under the scan of Military Intelligence from last one year.

The accused was involved in fraudulent recruitment and duping number of aspiring defence candidates for exchange of large amount of money, police said.

Scanned copy of forged Indian Army identity card, his photographs in army uniform and documents of aspiring candidates was recovered from the accused.

An FIR has been registered at Vivek Nagar Police Station, Bengaluru.
