Devendra Fadnavis encourages young diaspora to join in NEW INDIA Nation Building

SINGAPORE, 28 September 2017 – Chief Minister of Maharashtra, India, Mr Devendra Fadnavis (“Mr. Fadnavis”) addressed the young global diaspora at the Global Indian International School (“GIIS”) in Singapore. The visit was a part of Mr. Fadnavis’ three-day tour to South Korea and Singapore.

Mr. Fadnavis was speaking at the prestigious GIIS Leadership Lecture Series (LLS), which invites influential and distinguished personalities from around the world to share insights on their experiences and real-world issues in an interactive talk with students.

Mr. Fadnavis represents a younger, robust and resourceful generation of politicians who are forging the NEW INDIA vision as outlined by Hon’ble Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi.

A remarkable role model for GIIS students, Mr. Fadnavis leads one of the most developing states of Maharashtra as India’s second youngest Chief Minister.

[In his keynote address on leadership, he emphasised the importance of inspiring people and creating processes that lasts even when you are not there. He enthused the young audience that leadership is all about learning without ego. He also took on questions from the students who asked him about his guiding philosophies in life and politics, his initiatives as Chief Minister and its impact, as well as his hopes for the future generation.

Mr Fadnavis said, “Leadership is about shaping things for the better. All my life I have swum against the tide and the real joy is when you see people smiling because of the impact that you created. There is no better joy than that when you know that you can really make a difference”

He also remarked that one of his best decisions was his water conservation project to make 12, 000 villages of Maharashtra free from the curse of drought.

More than 1000 students from GIIS schools across 7 countries – Vietnam, UAE, Thailand, India, Japan, Malaysia and Singapore watched the talk live.

Mr. Atul Temurnikar, Chairman of GIIS said, “Mr. Fadnavis’s message to the young Diaspora encouraging them to contribute to the community and nation building will surely influence many youngsters to come forward and help their countries achieve good development”.
