Dhruv Foundation celebrated Diwali, Bhai Dooj with Army Jawans
Pune – “DIWALI BHAI-DHOOJ”, the traditional Indian festival of bonding and protection, was celebrated with usual fervour and zeal by the Puneites. The occasion was made special and memorable with ladies doing “Aarti” of the Army personnel at Paraplegic Rehabilitation Center (PRC) in Rangehills, Khadki. This initiative was spearheaded by Mrs. Rupali Saikhedkar and Mr Subodh Saikhekar, President and Vice President respectively, of the NGO named ‘Dhruv Foundaton’. Approximately 50 ladies participated in this solemn function at PRC. This patriotic event expressed solidarity of the people of Pune with the Armed Forces personnel and also symbolised ceaseless security provided by the security forces to the civil population.
A team of 50 Ladies along with their daughters visited Paraplegic Rehabilitation Center on Tuesday where 86 soldiers reside to celebrate ‘Bhai Dooj’, the concluding event of the Diwali festival, with Jawans who have lost their limbs on duty while serving the nation.
There are 86 residents at PRC, out of which, 50 are paraplegic and 36 are quadriplegic. Various activities to cater to these soldiers that ensure their medical care, physical care and psychological care are conducted at the centre.
“Dhruv Foundation”, an NGO working for Smile of Jawan’s in Pune, and Dhruv Defence Motivation Center working on Motivating Young generation towards our Defence forces has been ensuring that the soldiers celebrate their every festival with all Punekars.
“We had visited PRC to express our solidarity with these valiant jawans and celebrate ‘Bhai Doojh’ with them. Our soldiers have fought on all fronts very bravely. It is our duty to serve them now. On our Diwali festival Bhai-dooj Day, we should all remember the great sacrifices and worship for their prosperity and long life”, said Rupali Saikhedkar, founder president of this NGO from Pune.
“Our endeavour is to foster effective interaction between the citizens of Pune and the soldier brothers. By remembering our courageous armed forces who constantly protect our nation and by spending time by showing our concern & physical presence in Paraplegic Rehabilitation Center we had certainly made them very happy and achieved a smile on their face” , added Subodh Saikhedkar, director of Dhruv Defence Motivation Center.
