‘I Respect Our Police’ to bridge the gap between police and citizens

Pune : Festivals mean happy time with the family and friends. In short family time but when everybody remains in hurry to reach home, take leave from work, buy new colorful dresses, there are our real protector who remain in hurry to leave their family and friends for serving the society and make festive celebration more peaceful for the citizens.
They are always wear Khaki colour and prepared to protect us. Tuba Foundation and ‘I respect our Police’ campaign team salute their selfless and dedicated duty.
Tuba Foundation joins hand with ‘I respect our Police’ campaign team, decided to celebrate this ‘Diwali with Khaki’. Through ‘Diwali With Khaki’ initiates, volunteers of Tuba foundation created rangoli, illuminated diya at Police Station / Chowky and presented sweets to the Police personnel.
It was an amazing and beautiful experience for us to see the warm welcome of police personnel after knowing why we were at the police station.
“We always see that group of people come here only to lodge complaints. We are glad to see this positive and beautiful surprise from the citizens. You guys are doing a great job, God Bless you, Happy Diwali”, Said police personnel on duty.
Best part of this initiative was that citizens from 6 to 70 year old participated and enjoyed lot. They have seen a different side of Police personnel and were amazed by their positive response.
“Our main motto was to create positive relation between police and citizen “, said Amit Singh, member of ‘I respect our Police’ campaign and trustee of Tuba Foundation.
He further added, “We saw different emotion and positive reaction of police personnel and also local public who were surprised to see this type of activity. Many people stopped their vehicle watching us and some people came to us and helped us in making rangoli also.”
A policeman on patrolling duty told Punekar News, “Police chowky is our actual home and local residents are like our family. But unfortunately this is one sided. We think they are like our family and serve and care them more than our own family but they just come to us when they are in trouble or have complaint against anyone. We know very well it is our duty to solve their problems and also we get paid for this but we are also human being and just want acceptance from our family not ignorance. We are grateful to see you all here for Diwali celebration, this gives us more energy to serve our family more efficiently.”
Rachel (10) who participated in the program said, “I really enjoyed it and it felt good to do something for the police who make us feel safe . I liked being a part of the TUBA foundation.”
“The joy to celebrate Diwali with our men in khaki had brought us multifold happiness and joy that we can’t explain in words as it is beyond explanation as the happiness was seen in their eyes with gratitude … I Salute Them”, said Pari Hamdule, president of Tuba Foundation.
