DIAT Pune Celebrates World Students’ Day, Honours Legacy of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam

Khadakwasla, 16th October 2025: The Defence Institute of Advanced Technology (DIAT), Deemed to be University, Girinagar, Pune, celebrated World Students’ Day on Wednesday to mark the birth anniversary of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam — the Missile Man of India and Teacher of the Nation.

As part of the celebrations, DIAT organized a session under its Distinguished Lecture Series, featuring eminent scientist and visionary leader Dr. A. Sivathanu Pillai, Founder CEO and Managing Director of BrahMos Aerospace, widely known as the “Father of BrahMos.”

Dr. Pillai, recipient of the Padma Shri (2002), Padma Bhushan (2013), and the Order of Friendship from the Russian Federation (2014), delivered an inspiring lecture on the theme “Audacity of Vision & Leadership.”

Drawing from his distinguished career in aerospace and defence technology, Dr. Pillai highlighted the importance of innovation, courage, and visionary leadership in nation-building. He encouraged students to cultivate curiosity, resilience, and a spirit of excellence to contribute meaningfully to India’s growth.

On the occasion, DIAT Vice-Chancellor Dr. B.H.V.S. Narayana Murthy felicitated Dr. Pillai and urged students to take inspiration from great visionaries like Dr. Kalam and Dr. Pillai. “The youth must work with dedication and passion to build a self-reliant and strong India,” he said.

The event was attended by students, faculty members, and staff of DIAT, who expressed deep appreciation for Dr. Pillai’s thought-provoking lecture and his lifelong contribution to India’s scientific and technological advancement.
