25 July 2020: ‘Dil Bechara’ is a story of two people who fall for each other but circumstances and their illness force them to bid a heartbreaking goodbye. The film is an adaptation of the book ‘The Fault in Our Stars’ by renowned novelist John Green and a film of the same name.

Sushant has given a tear-jerking performance in the movie. He plays the role of Immanuel Rajkumar Junior aka Manny who suffered from Osteosarcoma and has lost one leg to cancer. Despite his condition, Manny is an effervescent person who spreads joy everywhere, and is a die-hard fan of Rajnikanth. He has a jovial personality and meets Kizie Basu played by Sanjana Sanghi who suffers from Thyroid cancer. Like many other romance movies, they don’t connect immediately. Manny is persuasive and funny while Kizie, on the other hand, brushes his attempts to come close to her.

After some time, Kizie finds it difficult to brush him off and gets drawn to him. She realises that despite the pain in their lives, Manny always has a smile on his face and tries hard to keep others around him happy. They both fall head over heels in love with each other.

Sushant and Sanjana’s chemistry in the movie is adorable. It is easy going, and though their characters are different from one another, the only common thing that brings them together is the will to live for one another and love each other inexplicably.

The last 20-30 minutes of the movie are absolutely heartbreaking. The movie is an emotional roller coaster, and its tones will hit you at all the right places. Sushant’s performance in the movie has again led to a sentimental wave amongst the audience who are calling it a perfect tribute to the late actor.

The film is all about love and hope. It is painful and beautiful at the same time. ‘Seri? Seri’ these are not just words, these are emotions which have gripped our souls. Sushant Singh Rajput and his contributions will forever be remembered.
