FIR registered against Rhea Chakraborty in Sushant Singh Rajput suicide case

Patna, 28 July 2020: In a recent development in actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s suicide case, Sushant’s father KK Singh has lodged an FIR against the actor’s ex-girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty. The case has been registered by Rajiv Nagar police station under Patna police.

His father has alleged that Rhea took money from Sushant and forced him to take a drastic step like suicide. He also accused the actress of betraying Sushant and trying to cut him off from his family. Sushant and Rhea had dated for some time. The actor died by suicide on June 14.

A case has been lodged against Rhea for offences under sections 306 (abetment of suicide), 380 (theft), 341 (wrongful restraint), 342 (punishment for wrongful confinement), 420 (cheating) and 406 (breach of trust) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Patna police may arrest Rhea soon. A team of four including two inspectors and two sub-inspectors have been sent to Mumbai to investigate this matter and retrieve all the necessary documents related to the case.

In Mumbai, Bandra police are investigating the death of the actor and had earlier called in Rhea for questioning. Rhea during her statement said that Sushant had terminated his contract with Yash Raj Films (YRF) and had asked her to do the same.

Aditya Chopra who is the head of YRF was also summoned for questioning along with Mahesh Bhatt, who recorded his statement yesterday. According to sources, Karan Johar will also be summoned for questioning later this week.

Earlier on July 16, Rhea had tweeted to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, “I’m Sushant Singh Rajputs girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty,it is now over a month since his sudden demise I have complete faith in the government, however, in the interest of justice, I request you with folded hands to initiate a CBI enquiry. I only want to understand what pressures, prompted Sushant to take this step.”
