District Administration Searching For Open Land For IIM Branch In Pune, Says MLA Mahesh Landge

Pune 27th Sept 2023: The Member of Legislative Assembly from Bhosari, Mahesh Landge has written a letter to the Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis demanding to set up a branch of Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in Pimpri Chinchwad or in an open place anywhere in the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) jurisdiction. This, according to him, will help increase the development of the area.
Landge in his letter stated that he and the former MLA Laxman Jagtap had pledged to make Pimpri Chinchwad as ‘Education Hub’ before the municipal elections. In line with this agenda, the government has already taken a positive stand to build a government engineering college and Rashtriya Kala Academy in Pimpri Chinchwad but it is also important that the city gets a branch of Indian Institute of Management (IIM). Considering the industrial belt and connectivity between Pune and Mumbai, it will be convenient for the government to establish an IIM branch here, he said.
Landge also said that IIM is currently searching for places to expand its wings and the officials of Haveli Tehsil and Pune division already are searching for open places in Pune to explore the possibility to set the institute in the district. “Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis should hold talks with the officials of IIM and cooperate with them in establishing the IIM branch in Pimpri Chinchwad. The institute will increase business and employment opportunities in the industrial city” he said.
