Pune, 2nd November 2024: Vehicle purchases have seen a significant rise during Diwali, following the festive boost that began with Dussehra. A total of 21,247 new vehicles have been sold in Pune from Dussehra to Dhanteras this year, marking an increase of 1,164 vehicles compared to the same period last year.

Dussehra is considered an auspicious time in Hindu tradition, prompting citizens to buy vehicles, jewelry, ornaments, and other valuables. Vehicle purchases continue through Diwali, with peak buying around Dhanteras, Lakshmi Puja, Diwali Padwa, and Bhai Dooj. This year, Pune has witnessed an uptick in the sale of two-wheelers, cars, rickshaws, buses, and taxis during this festive period.

While overall vehicle sales have grown compared to last year, there has been a noticeable decline in the purchase of electric vehicles (EVs). In 2023, 1,702 EVs were sold between Dussehra and Diwali, but this year, only 658 EVs have been purchased.
