Pune, 5th May 2021: Pune District Magistrate and Collector Dr Rajesh Deshmukh today appealed to the doctors not to give prescription to relatives of COVID patients for buying Remdesivir injection (vial) from outside the hospital as the retail sale of the injection has been banned.
He also informed that till today a total of 94,349 vials of Remdesivir injections have been distributed to patients through hospitals in the Pune district. “On May 4 and 5, a total of 12051 vials have been given for 16127 functional beds in 627 hospitals. The stockists supply the vials to Pune Municipal Corporation, Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, Nagarpalika, Nagar Parishad, Cantonment and Rural Hospitals based on demand from the hospitals”, Deshmukh said.
He further appealed that no prescription should be given to the relatives of any patient as adequate stocks of Remdesivir injections have been allotted.
From 16/04/2021, the available stock of Remdesivir injection is being distributed to all the hospitals on a daily basis in proportion to their beds. So that all Covid Hospitals have direct stock available to their patients. Considering the shortage of Remdesivir injection in Pune district, 24X7 control room has been made operational from 11/04/2021 at the Collectorate Pune.
It was observed that one Remdesivir vial was being sold for Rs 30,000 to Rs 70,000 outside while the government has fixed its price from Rs 1100 to 1500. In order to curb the black market, six flying squads have been set up in urban areas and 12 flying squads in rural areas under the control of tehsildars to control the availability and proper distribution of Remdesivir in hospitals. All the hospitals are being instructed to use this injection as per medical protocol.
The list of Remedesivir injections received daily by the hospital is given by the District Collector’s Office Pune along with the names of the hospitals and distributors, mobile numbers and number of injections. You can check the list on this website https://pune.gov.in/corona-
