Pune, April 27, 2020: “It has been observed that most of the doctors have not started clinics yet despite instructions from the government to start their clinics for the treatment of patients. Therefore, the medical officers should immediately get the clinics reopened for citizens”, appealed Pune Divisional Commissioner Dr Deepak Mhaisekar.

Dr Mhaisekar said that although all establishments were closed due to the lockdown, the clinic has been exempted. However, still, medical services are not available to the general public. Dr Mhaisekar said that doctors who are older and have any chronic ailments may not start the clinic, but doctors who are fit but have not yet started clinics is a serious matter. In addition to COVID, patients who are having other ailments need to be served. The municipality should take notice of the closed clinics so that the administration can decide on the action to be taken. While paying attention to COVID, other ailments should not be neglected, doctors should contact patients through telemedicine, Mhaisekar appealed.
