Drug Case Accused Lalit Patil Who Escaped From Pune’s Sassoon Hospital Sent to Mumbai Police Custody till Oct 23

Mumbai 18th Oct 2023: The magistrate court in Mumbai on Tuesday sent Lalit Patil, the drug accused who escaped from Sassoon General Hospital earlier this month to Mumbai Police’s custody till October 23. Patil was arrested by the Mumbai Police team from a hotel between Bengaluru and Chennai.

Patil who was lodged in the Yerawada Central Jail in connection with a drug related case was admitted to Sassoon General Hospital from where he managed to escape on October 2. This happened, just a day after the Pune City police arrested a person with Mephedrone from outside the hospital premises and later arrested the canteen staffer. The further investigation in the case revealed Lalit Patil’s name and before the police could investigate further, he escaped custody.

The Mumbai Police earlier raided a factory involved in manufacturing of drugs in Nashik and the further investigation in the case revealed involvement of Lalit Patil and his brother Bhushan Patil’s names. The Mumbai Police and Pune Police both were searching for him. The state government has already set up a four member committee to investigate the matter related to Lalit Patil’s escape from Sassoon Hospital.
