Pune, 6th April 2023: Education Commissioner Suraj Mandhare revealed in a press conference on Wednesday that nearly 800 schools, including CBSE, ICSE, and IB, are running in a bogus manner in Maharashtra. Errors were found in the documents of these schools, and 100 of them have already been closed permanently. Mandhare emphasized that serious mistakes in document submission by schools could lead to criminal action against them.

In addition to state board schools, 1,300 other unofficial schools were inspected by a delegation of education officials in the state recently. Out of them, around 800 schools were found to have serious errors in their documents, leading to thorough investigations. The verification process checks the school’s Original NOC, Approval Certificate from the concerned board, and Letter of Intent issued by the State Government. Schools without these documents may face de-accreditation.

Education Officers have been instructed to discuss with the Deputy Director of Education and prepare a proposal for concrete action instead of hasty action. Mandhare stated that the process of action will continue, with 100 schools already closed.

Mandhare appealed to parents to make thorough inquiries and check the documents while enrolling their children in private schools. He urged parents to verify the school’s registration number by visiting the Unified District Information System for Education Plus (UDISE+) portal and checking the school’s approval documents displayed in front of the school’s premises.

The parents must verify the documents and registration of the school before enrolling their children to ensure they receive a quality education.
