Eight Cases In Five Years, Pune Police Invoke MPDA Against Woman From Hadapsar

Pune 11th August 2023: The Pune City Police Commissioner Reetesh Kumaarr has invoked Maharashtra Prevention of Dangerous Activities Act( MPDA) against a woman accused from Hadapsar area who has been booked in 8 cases in the last 5 years. However, despite getting arrested multiple times the accused did not change her behaviour following which the city police have decided to lodge her in jail for one year under MPDA Act.

The woman identified as Suman Sanjay Kadmanchi (41) a resident of Samarth Nagar, Hadapsar was nabbed by police for allegedly selling illicit toddy in the area. The local police station after noticing her criminal record recommended a strict action against her. The city police commissioner has invoked MPDA Act against her following which the accused will remain lodged in Nashik Central Jail for the next one year.

This was the 39th action of invoking MPDA against a serial criminal in the city by the police commissioner since he took charge in Pune. He has warned of similar action against other criminals who do not change their behaviour despite being warned or arrested multiple times by police.
