Eknath Khadse’s Son-in-Law Granted Bail By SC In Pune Land Scam Case

Pune 22nd July 2023: The Supreme Court on Friday granted bail to the son-in-law of former minister Eknath Khadse in Pune land scam case. Girish Chaudhary who was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the land scam case spent over two years in jail after his bail application was rejected by the special court and high court in the case.

The court has directed him to submit his passport and co-operate for the trial in the matter. The court while pronouncing the order noted that there is an interim stay of the Bombay High Court on ths offence and the custody of the accused is not necessary since he has been behind the bar for over two years.

The Enforcement Directorate had arrested Chaudhary on July 7, 2021 and the investigation agency has claimed that he was involved the sale deed of a land in Pune. It may be noted that former revenue minister Eknath Khadse and his wife Mandakini Khadse were also made accused in the case. It was alleged that Khadse used his minister post to purchase 3.1 acres of land in Bhosari, Pimpri Chinchwad and the land was purchased in his wife and son-in-law’s name.

Khadse also had to resign as minister following the allegations in the case. The investigation agency has also conducted enquiry against his wife Mandakini Khadse on several occasions in the past.
