Pune : Elderly man kills ailing wife, then went to commit suicide but caught by police

Pune, August 3, 2019 : The Wanowrie police station under Pune city police has arrested the 78 year old man who allegedly murdered his wife and then went commit suicide after leaving a note behind on Thursday.

The deceased has been identified as Devinder Kaur Bindra (66). Police have arrested her husband Harvinder Singh, a resident of Flower Valley Society, Wanowrie. Based on complaint from his son Ramendra Bindra, a murder case has been registered against him.

According to police, Harvinder has a son and two daughters. The son lives in a neighbouring flat and has a clothing business. The accused, Harvinder, had a hotel business.  For the past few years, Devinder was suffering from schizophrenia and Harvinder had shut his hotel business nearly a decade ago to take care of his wife.  However, Harvinder got tired of his wife’s mental illness and on Thursday night he stabbed his wife with a knife and killed her. He wrote a suicide note in which he stated that nobody should be held responsible. He addressed the note to his children saying that he was fed up of looking after their mother and after killing her, he is going to commit suicide.

The incident came to light on Friday when his Ramendra, who was going for morning walk, saw the door of his parents flat wide open. When he went inside, he found his mother in a pool of blood. He informed the police.   Harvinder was found today by the police. A team under supervision of Senior police inspector Krantikumar Patil investigated the case.
